Most any metal fabrication job will include forming as an integral function. Forming, which is the process of bending metal, may sound like a simple task, but considering the wide variety of material types and thicknesses combined with the countless number of potential configurations and the mathematical calculations necessary to achieve the desired results, it is much more of a science that one might think. By approaching your job in a thoughtful and intelligent manner, our skilled brake operators will develop cost-efficient set-ups that will also allow them to maintain constant dimensions throughout the forming process.

To assure that our operators are given the best chance of success, DMP has surrounded them with a large and diverse selection of metal forming equipment. The mainstay of this department are the Cincinnati CNC 90AF-6 Forming Centers. These state-of-the-art press brakes have a number of breakthrough features: Visual CAD Referencing allows the operator to draw the part on the machine’s monitor and receive color-coded prompts to insure that the part is being manipulated correctly; Multiple Forming Modes command the machine to perform many of the mathematical and geometrical calculations necessary to accurately form the part; Autoform Adaptive Mode in which the machine will "learn" how to form a part and will make automatic changes in bend deductions and pressure to adapt to different materials; Offline Programming Capabilities allow the part to be programmed "off-line" and downloaded directly into the machine or transferred from a floppy disk. Parameters can then be stored electronically for future use; Autocrowning is a pressure compensating feature that increases the consistency of long flanges and helps reduce the need for shims thus reducing set-up times; and a 6-Axis Independent CNC Back Gauge which facilitates the ability to program various gauge positions into a forming sequence to reduce handling time and allows for the effective and efficient forming of innumerable part configurations.
